Jordan, Egypt discuss impact of regional military escalation

Amman, March 15 (SANA) Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty discussed the implications of the escalating military tensions in the region during a phone call, Jordan’s state news agency Petra reported Sunday. Safadi, and Abdelatty reviewed the latest developments and their potential impact on regional and international security, Petra said. The two ministers also discussed ways to activate diplomatic efforts aimed at preserving regional stability, respecting state sovereignty and international law, and strengthening Arab coordination to address the ongoing challenges. Both sides reiterated their condemnation of the unjustified Iranian attacks targeting Jordan and other Arab countries. Safadi said Jordan would take all necessary measures to protect its security, stability and sovereignty, expressing solidarity with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in their efforts to confront the attacks and safeguard regional security. For his part, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s full support for Jordan in addressing the attacks. The region has witnessed escalating military tensions since Feb. 28 amid the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran, accompanied by Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting several countries in the region.
